Birpara Shree Mahavir Hindi High School in West Bengal

Pinkishe Foundation recently conducted a menstrual hygiene literacy session and pad distribution drive conducted by Sweta Agarwal at Birpara Shree Mahavir Hindi High School in West Bengal, with a focus on empowering students.

Despite initial assumptions of possible shyness among students when discussing menstruation, it was a pleasant surprise to witness their enthusiastic engagement with the topic. Students eagerly opened up about their experiences and concerns, highlighting the prevalent issue of mothers being reluctant to seek medical care for menstrual health issues. Many shared stories of their mothers' reluctance to address menstrual health concerns, despite experiencing extreme discomfort.

This candid discussion underscored the urgent need for comprehensive menstrual health education and awareness, both among students and their families. By fostering open conversations and providing accurate information, we aim to empower students with the knowledge and confidence to prioritize their menstrual health and advocate for proper care.

Sanitary pads were provided to all participants. This initiative not only ensured access to essential menstrual products but also symbolized our collective effort to promote menstrual hygiene and empower students in the community.
