Ravana Dot Com – Reflecting on the Mythical and Modern Ravana

Which Ravana are we really talking about—the Ravana of Treta Yuga or the Ravana of today? The Treta-era Ravana, despite being labeled a villain, was a devoted follower of Lord Shiva, an extraordinary warrior, and a supreme scholar. Though he met his end at the hands of Lord Rama, people continue to burn effigies and celebrate his destruction every year. But on what authority?

The Modern Ravana – Confronting Our Inner Demons

Who has truly thought about ending the modern Ravana? And even if we think about it, is that thought enough? Are we capable today of protecting ourselves from the Kaliyuga Ravana, or defeating the Ravana within ourselves? If not, we have no right to destroy the Treta-era Ravana either. This discussion urges us to reflect inwardly—when will we confront and overcome the Ravana within us?

Swara – Conversations That Inspire Self-Reflection

Under the Swara initiative, Pinkishe Foundation facilitates discussions that encourage deep reflection, social awareness, and personal growth. “Ravana Dot Com” was an interactive exploration of mythology, modern life, and self-awareness, with insights from authors Neelam Duggal Nargis, Umang Sareen, and Dr. Bhavna Shukla, guided by Vandana Rani Dayal. The session invited participants to question traditions, celebrate wisdom, and recognize personal challenges.

Why This Discussion Matters

This Dussehra, it’s not just about burning effigies—it’s about understanding the symbolism behind Ravana. By reflecting on both the historical and modern interpretations, we learn to confront our fears, anger, ego, and negativity—the Ravanas within ourselves. The discussion encourages self-reflection and inner awareness, understanding the difference between symbolic and real-life evil, personal growth, ethical living, and conscious celebration of traditions with meaning.
