Menstrual Health Workshop by Pankh-RISE in collaboration with Pinkishe Foundation

In a powerful stride towards empowering young girls through education and empathy, Pinkishe Foundation, in association with Pankh-RISE, conducted an impactful Menstrual Health and Hygiene Education Workshop. The initiative focused on raising awareness around periods, challenging menstrual stigma, and promoting hygienic practices—especially among girls who often face limited access to accurate information and menstrual products.

About the Workshop

The workshop was led by Pinkishe’s trained menstrual educators and supported by passionate volunteers from Pankh-RISE. The session was designed to be engaging and informative, creating a safe space where adolescent girls could talk openly about their menstrual health—a topic still considered taboo in many parts of India.

Through interactive demonstrations and simplified scientific explanations, the girls learned about menstruation, hygiene practices, and the importance of tracking their cycles. For many of them, this was the first time they had been encouraged to ask questions and speak freely about their experiences with periods. The session also addressed common period myths and misconceptions, helping the participants understand what is normal, healthy, and nothing to be ashamed of.

Key Highlights

  • Over 50 girls actively participated in the workshop
  • Myths and misconceptions about menstruation were openly discussed
  • Free sanitary pads were distributed to ensure access and support
  • Educators conducted one-on-one Q&A sessions to answer personal concerns

Why Menstrual Health Education Matters

In many parts of India, menstruation is still shrouded in silence and shame. This lack of awareness leads to girls missing school, hiding their periods, or using unsafe menstrual products. Pinkishe Foundation believes that education is the most powerful tool to change this. When girls are taught the truth about their bodies, they gain confidence and the ability to manage their health with dignity.

Part of a Larger Mission: Project Padbank

This workshop was part of Project Padbank, Pinkishe Foundation’s flagship program dedicated to ending period poverty. Through pad distribution drives and menstrual education camps, Project Padbank has already transformed the lives of thousands of girls. With the goal of reaching 1 million girls, the project focuses on ensuring every girl has access to sanitary pads, accurate information, and emotional support.
