Pinkishe Foundation conducted a menstrual hygiene literacy session and pad distribution drive done by our dedicated volunteer, Jhuma Sunuwar, in Sikkim. This initiative aimed to educate women about menstrual health and promote sustainable hygiene practices.
During the session, a significant portion of time was dedicated to discussing the importance of proper disposal of sanitary pads. It was emphasized that improper disposal, such as throwing used pads in toilets or openly in surroundings, can lead to various environmental problems. Participants engaged in constructive discussions about the impact of such practices on the environment and explored alternative, eco-friendly disposal methods.
The session facilitated by Jhuma Sunuwar provided a platform for open dialogue and shared learning, empowering women to make informed choices about their menstrual hygiene practices. By raising awareness about the environmental implications of improper disposal, the initiative encouraged participants to adopt responsible habits and contribute to environmental sustainability.
As part of our commitment to menstrual health education, sanitary pads were distributed to all participants. This initiative not only provided access to essential menstrual products but also reinforced the importance of proper hygiene management.
