Pinkishe Foundation and P&G have launched an innovative initiative, Project Kishori, to improve menstrual health and hygiene in Uttar Pradesh. Through 600 engaging nukkad natak (street play) sessions in Baghpat, Hapur, and Bulandshahr, we aim to break the stigma around menstruation and educate women on crucial menstrual health practices.
The nukkad natak performances have been incredibly effective in capturing community interest and fostering meaningful discussions. These plays use captivating storytelling and relatable characters to share essential information about menstruation, debunk myths, and encourage healthy practices in a compelling way.
These sessions have turned public spaces into educational forums, promoting open conversations about menstruation. By tackling deeply ingrained taboos, we strive to create a supportive environment where women and girls can discuss their menstrual health without shame. Normalizing these discussions is vital for empowering women to seek information and resources confidently.
Each nukkad natak is meticulously designed to highlight the importance of menstrual hygiene, correct common misconceptions, and provide practical advice on managing menstrual health. Topics include the biological aspects of menstruation, the importance of sanitary products, and maintaining cleanliness during periods, all conveyed with cultural sensitivity to ensure resonance with the audience.
Our partnership with P&G has been crucial to Project Kishori's success. Together, we've reached thousands of women and girls, providing them with the knowledge and tools they need to manage their periods confidently and with dignity.
