On May 27, 2024, an impactful Menstrual Health & Hygiene Education Camp was held at Shirke Road, Bhimnagar Mundhva, Pune, Maharashtra. This event, conducted by Shalini Gupta and Aastha Katara, aimed to educate women and girls on safe menstrual health and hygiene practices. The camp was a collaborative effort with our partner, Merkle, and successfully reached 105 women and girls in the community.

The session was thoughtfully designed to address crucial aspects of menstrual health. Shalini and Aastha began by explaining the importance of maintaining proper hygiene during menstruation to prevent infections and promote overall health. They provided practical tips and demonstrated the correct use and disposal of sanitary pads, emphasizing the significance of using clean and safe menstrual products.

One of the highlights of the camp was the open discussion on menstrual taboos. The facilitators encouraged the attendees to share their experiences and beliefs surrounding menstruation. This segment of the session fostered a supportive environment where myths and misconceptions could be addressed openly. Shalini and Aastha debunked common myths and provided factual information, helping to break down the stigmas associated with menstruation.

Additionally, the attendees were given the opportunity to ask questions and voice their concerns. This interactive Q&A session allowed for personalized guidance and support, ensuring that each participant left with a clear understanding of how to manage their menstrual health effectively.

To further support the women and girls in the community, 105 sanitary pads were distributed during the event, ensuring that each participant received a pack. This distribution aimed to provide immediate relief and promote the use of safe menstrual products.

The Menstrual Health & Hygiene Education Camp was a significant step towards empowering women and girls with knowledge and resources to manage their menstrual health confidently. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Shalini Gupta, Aastha Katara, and our partner, Merkle, for their dedication and support in making this event a success.

This camp is a part of our ongoing efforts to improve menstrual health and hygiene practices in communities across India. We are committed to continuing our work in this area, ensuring that every woman and girl has access to the information and resources they need to manage their menstrual health with dignity and confidence.
