40000 School Girls Period-Educated on a Single Day in Meerut!

A Landmark Educational Initiative

In an unprecedented event in April, Pinkishe Foundation’s project 'Sakhi' achieved a remarkable milestone by educating approximately 40,000 school girls in Meerut about menstrual health and hygiene. This ambitious project, executed in three strategic phases, aimed to foster menstrual literacy and empower young women with essential knowledge.

Phase One: Training the Trainers

The initiative began with the training of Block Resource Groups (BRGs) across 13 blocks in Meerut. Led by Ms. Shalini Gupta, this foundational phase equipped the BRGs with the necessary skills and knowledge to educate others about menstrual health. This critical step laid the groundwork for the subsequent educational phases.

Phase Two: Expanding the Reach

In the second phase, the trained BRGs provided training to two teachers from each school within their blocks. This approach ensured effective dissemination of information, enabling teachers to deliver comprehensive menstrual literacy workshops to their students.

Phase Three: Educating the Girls

The final phase involved the trained teachers conducting menstrual literacy workshops for girls in classes 6th to 8th. These workshops aimed to break menstrual health taboos and provide crucial information, contributing to a more informed and confident generation of young women.

Supervision and Coordination

The project was supervised by Ms. Poonam Rana, Chief Project Officer of the Sakhi Program at Pinkishe Foundation’s Meerut Branch. Her leadership and meticulous coordination were pivotal in achieving the project's success.
