SAKHI PROJECT
Block - Machara, Meerut
On 2nd May 2022, in the BRGs of Machara block, The Pinkishe Foundation along with Smt. Neeraj Verma and Smt. Neelam Kumari imparted training to 48 teachers in 34 schools, who educated 1290 girls in their school. The project coordinator of the Sakhi Program in Pinkishe Foundation, Ms Poonam Rana, urged teachers to be empathetic toward girls while explaining the process of menstruation to them. The teachers taught the girls how a Sanitary Pad is applied through the cut-out of underwear. Pinkishe Foundation supports period education so that young girls don't shy away from using pads because of a lack of education and training regarding their use. They also told the girls about the right ways of its disposal. Free 'Whisper Ultra Pads' given by P&G were distributed among all the girls. The Pinkishe Foundation is also actively working towards helping people eliminate the shyness they have in openly talking about periods.
