Free Pad Distribution & Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Camp| Bharog Baneri| 4th June 2022

Pinkishe Foundation Organised a Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Workshop and Pad donation drive on 4th June in Bharog Baneri, Himachal Pradesh. The event was organised in association with Project Rishi of the University of California, Berkeley.

Pinkishe Foundation co-adapted this village along with the University of California, Berkeley, four years back. About 15 students from UC Berkeley who are part of Project Rishi were present at the event. They were led by Sukhjeet Kaur, their Project lead, and Elena Roth. Ms. Shalini Gupta, National General Secretary of Pinkishe Foundation educated the girls and women of this village about the importance of periods and safe hygiene practices which they need to maintain during the period. The event was graced by Dr. Vaishali, a Gynecologist who answered the gynaec -related issues of women with utmost patience and compassion. It was shocking to know that there is not even a single lady doctor in this village or nearby villages. Village women appreciated the efforts of Project Rishi and Pinkishe Foundation for arranging gynaec health camps for them.

Mr. Arun Gupta, Founder, President of Pinkishe Foundation was also present at the event. He appreciated the hard work and great efforts that the US Berkeley team had put in in making the event successful. He hoped that this collaboration between Pinkishe Foundation and Project Rishi of UC Berkeley will go a long way and will create a larger impact in improving the menstrual health and hygiene condition of women in Village Bharog Baneri. At the end of this session, Pinkishe Foundation donated free reusable cloth pads to the women and girls. The commitment and dedication of UC Berkeley students were commendable. We look forward to more such programs with Project Rishi in the future.
